My Job Hunting

I got laid off 2 months ago. It was at the wrong time. Job market was really slow. Even though the $700 billion bailout plan was put into action. Guess what, I just bought a house last February and most of my savings went with it. Even better, COMCAST didn't fix my internet connection for almost 4 months now and was threatened for a disconnect of service and asked to still pay my balance even though I've never used their service. So my job hunting went more interesting.

Luckily, the library was just 3 miles away from my place and they've got great free wireless internet connection. From then on I became a full time job seeker for a software developer position. Give or take, there's probably about 200 resumes I sent out. About 5% of them responded. Only Noetix and TexScan setup for an interview. None of them gave a job offer. Frustration kicked in. But my hopes are up. Indeed.

This week has been pretty interesting. I've had a chance to be phone screened and personally interviewed by IHG and McKesson. IHG didn't work out. McKesson seems to be positive. The Director's decision will be made middle of next week (....crossing my fingers).

My favorite question I've been asked was if you have two coins in your pocket and one them is not a quarter, what is the other coin? Yes. You got it. Could be anything. I got it too.

I think the way how it works is that you need to find your interests, think where it fits and feel the people you will work with in the future. It always works. Not only in your favor, but bothways.
